Yogurt and Spinach Dip (Borani) Recipe

One of the most delicious, easy to make and nutritious Persian side dish is the mixture of yogurt and spinach. It's called Borani-e Esfenaj. Preparation time is about 10 minutes and it makes about 4 servings.
 
Yogurt and Spinach Dip
 
Ingredients:
Serves 4
 
2 cups plain yogurt
2 pounds fresh spinach, washed and chopped or use a 1 (10 ounce) package frozen spinach, thawed
1 clove of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons walnuts, crushed
Salt and pepper to taste
 
Method:
 
Wash and chop spinach into small pieces. 
Place in a small pot with a half a cup of water, steam for ten minutes. 
Drain and place spinach in a bowl. 
Mix with 2 cups of yogurt, add salt and pepper. 
Garnish with chopped walnuts. 
Refrigerate for at least two hours. 
Serve cold with warm pita bread.
